Beginning Therapy
Answers to the questions you might have before reaching out.Starting therapy often brings practical questions. Below you'll find details about how I work, session logistics, and what to expect — so you can move forward with more clarity and ease.
How it works
-
I offer a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation so we can connect, talk about what's bringing you in, and see whether working together feels like a good fit.
If it does, we'll schedule a 50-minute initial session to begin.
Individual sessions are $225. A limited number of sliding scale spots are available; you're welcome to ask about current availability.
-
Our first session is a space to gently explore what's bringing you in and what feels most important to focus on. You'll have time to ask questions about the process or the intake forms, which are completed online beforehand.
We'll start to get a sense of what you're hoping for and how we might work toward that together.
To support consistency and trust, I ask new clients to begin with weekly sessions.
-
My practice is fully virtual. I offer telehealth sessions for clients located in California and Florida through a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform. I'm based in the Bay Area, CA.
-
Individual sessions are 50 minutes and typically take place once per week. We can revisit pacing and frequency over time as needed.
-
I'm an out-of-network provider and don't bill insurance directly. Working privately allows us more flexibility, confidentiality, and freedom to focus on what matters most to you — without insurance dictating the terms of your care.
If you plan to seek reimbursement, I can provide a monthly superbill that you may submit to your insurance company. Reimbursement depends on your specific out-of-network benefits.
Superbills include provider information, dates of service, fees, and required diagnostic codes. A diagnosis is required for insurance reimbursement and can be discussed during our work together.
-
I ask for 48 hours notice for all cancellations and rescheduling.
Sessions cancelled outside this window, or missed appointments, are charged the full fee. I understand that emergencies arise and aim to approach these situations with care and clarity.
-
For telehealth sessions, you must be physically located in a state where I am licensed and able to practice at the time of our session (California or Florida).
If you attend a session while out of state, I'll need to end the session early — and it will be charged as a late cancellation.
-
Many of the people I support are high-achieving, caring, and used to holding a great deal internally. They're often seeking depth, insight, and meaningful change — not just symptom relief.
I also work with teens, children, and families who are thoughtful, reflective, and open to exploring their inner experience.
Fit matters, and we can explore that together during a consultation.
-
It's common to feel uncertain — especially if you're used to managing things on your own or have had mixed experiences in the past.
You don't need certainty to begin. The consultation is simply a space to ask questions and see how it feels to talk together.
